A graduate of a business school, I started my career in 2009 in the Finance Department at Crédit Agricole-CIB in Paris. I was lucky to obtain my internal mobility in order to join CFM Indosuez in Monaco and to participate in the Young Female Talent programme in 2018. At CFM Indosuez, I work as a data center analyst in the Strategic Planning Group, a key department in the Sales Division. We are the preferred contact of bankers. We answer their different requests and help them manage their commercial activity.

Although women are under-represented in management bodies, this department, like the bank as a whole, bases it recruitments on profile and not on gender.

How would you describe the position of “job title”?

Before I arrived this department was 90% male, and one year later, after many movements, my manager is the only male left. This job is therefore adapted to both genders: you just need to combine rigour, a flair for figures, listening and empathy in order to best help bankers and management in their strategic management.

What are the peak periods of your job during the year?

The first two weeks of the month are structured around the closing of the monthly accounts in order to disseminate performance indicators to bankers and Management. Month-end periods are used to manage one-off studies and ongoing projects.

As the service is impacted by the Bank’s restructuring and developments, some periods are therefore very busy. Since I cannot manage the surplus activity and exceptional missions in the evening because of family obligations, I have to be more productive. I’ve therefore decided to extend my hours in the morning.

Can you describe your typical day?

I usually arrive around 7:30 am, which gives me one hour to work in a perfectly calm environment. Outside of the cut-off periods, each day is different, with requests from management and bankers coming in at random.

You have to manage calls, emails and any emergencies. After a lunch break, which is more or less short depending on the workflow, we can resume work in progress. I then have leave around 5:30 pm to continue with my family life.

What career path is required to reach your position and what are the possibilities for development?

You can access this job with a classic business or finance degree, if you love figures and personal contacts. At no time in my career has being a woman seemed to me to be a handicap.

It would seem that this perception of gender diversity differs depending on the managers we meet

What advice would you give to someone thinking of taking up a similar position?

It would seem that this perception of gender diversity differs depending on the managers we meet. I must have been lucky because it never seemed impossible for me to get a job because of my status as a woman. Perhaps it is because I came from Crédit Agricole-CIB, where I saw that a number of women were obtaining positions of responsibility on an equal footing with men.

Or perhaps it is the example of my mother, who set up her own business and managed to combine family life and professional life, which has enabled me not to place any restrictions on the management of my professional life.
