Role Overview

The Business Manager for Global and Repo Indexing (“GRI”) supports the GRI business line in the U.S, working closely with the Trading desks. The role holder has a dual reporting to the GMD Business Manager for Trading locally, and to the COO for GRI globally.

The role focuses on business execution, governance, and coordination across functions, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations, alignment with strategic objectives, and adherence to internal and regulatory requirements. The position offers a strong exposure to front office activities and interaction with teams locally and globally.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Performance & Reporting
    • Support the monitoring of business performance, including revenues, balance sheet usage, and key financial metrics across Repo and Indexing activities
    • Produce regular management reporting and analysis to support decision-making
    • Assist in the preparation of business reviews, budgets and forecasts.
  •  Business Management and Execution
    • Act as the central coordination point between the GRI Trading desk and support functions (Risk, Finance, Compliance, Operations, and Technology)
    • Support the execution of strategic initiatives and business-driven projects
    • Support the implementation of new products, workflows and infrastructure enhancements
    • Assist in identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency and business performance
  • Governance and Controls
    • Support adherence to internal policies, risk framework, and regulatory requirements relevant to GRI Trading activities
    • Contribute to governance processes, including preparation of materials for committees and follow-up on action items
    • Assist in the monitoring and escalation of operational and control issues
    • Ensure appropriate documentation around GRI trading activities.
  •  Head Office Coordination and Alignment
    • Support communication and coordination between the U.S platform and Head Office, ensuring effective communication, transparency, and alignment with global business strategy and governance frameworks
    • Contribute to the preparation of regular updates on business performance, key initiatives, and risk topics
    • Ensure timely escalation of material issues, risks, or operational matters to the appropriate stakeholders in line with internal governance processes
  • Governance, Committees, Risk Support
    • Support governance forms, including contributing to the New and Approved Products Committee process (documentation, tracking, follow-up)
    • Assist in Business Continuity Planning (BCP) activities, including coordination of testing, documentation and periodic review
    • Contribute to the management of operational risk, including incident tracking and remediation follow-up

Salary Range: $140k-$175k

Legal and Regulatory ResponsibilitiesComply with all applicable legal, regulatory and internal Compliance requirements, including, but not limited to, the CA-CIB New York/CAS Compliance manuals and Compliance policies and procedures as issued from time to time; Financial Security/Compliance requirements, including, but not limited to, the prevention of Financial Crime and Fraud including reporting obligations to the Money Laundering Reporting Officer, or local equivalent.
Maintain appropriate knowledge to ensure to be fully qualified to undertake the role.

  • Minimum level of study
    Postgraduate degree – MA/MSc/PhD/Doctorate or equivalent
    Training / Specialization
    Education Essential: Master's degree
    Experience Essential: Minimum of 5 years’ practical experience either in a business management, risk or operational role. Experience dealing with a broad range of stakeholders, from business to support functions partners. Experience Desirable: Knowledge and experience of working within a bank or broker-dealer in the US, and subsequent operational processes and requirements would be an advantage.

    Skills & Knowledge Essential: 
    • Good knowledge of the bank (Strategy, procedures, contact network etc)
    • Good understanding of Repo and Indexing products and market dynamics
    • Project Management experience
    IT tools
    Approved Person Registration Desirable: Not required, although successful candidate will be encouraged to obtain SEC or industry-related qualifications, to deepen knowledge and reinforce professional nature of the role
