Job description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Overview of role:

  • Management of the activities and work of the CACI Reserving Teams
    • 3 teams led by 3 team leaders: 14 staff currently with 2 open positions
    • 3 legal entities in Ireland reporting to the CBI: CACI Life, CACI Non-Life, CACI Re
    • Outsourced actuarial services provided to a large French company (PREDICA) in the CAA group within the Business unit in the CAA Group
  • Manage the team (deadlines, processes), allocate efficiently the resources, assure retention of staff and skills improvement, monitor performance, develop succession plans and succeed new staff integration. Lead by example and motivate the team members
  • Represent CACI in meetings and workshops with internal and external stakeholders (including HoAF, CBI, Partners, Auditors)

Reserving Team’s structure:

  • Team 1: International Reserving
    • Focus on CACI partners excluding Italian Partners
  • Team 2: Italian Reserving and Reserving Models
    • Focus on CACI Italian partners and on SAS models and model points for Prophet
  • Team 3: French entities Reserving
    • Focus on portfolios outside CACI (Outsourced actuarial services)


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the timely and accurate delivery of Local Statutory Technical reserves, Technical accounts, Profit share accounts, profit sharing estimates and Reinsurance Accounts
  • Oversee the production of the annual Local Statutory reserving policy (assumptions and methodology), explain, and justify movements in reserves
  • Communicate and justify movements in Local Stat Technical Reserves to the Technical Committee, Auditors and the Head of Actuarial Function
  • Support annual Budget/Medium Term Plan and contribute to the validation of results, analysis and commentaries
  • Support to quarterly IFRS17 reporting
  • Provide communication and support to Business Development teams
  • Streamline technical portfolio monitoring
  • Oversee the testing and integration of new data warehouse data in the Reserving processes
  • Oversee the creation and modification of new SAS programs feeding into the reserving and modelling processes
  • Oversee the production of the model points in SAS and Data Centralizer

Processes:

  • Develop, update, implement and improve control processes related to the activity of the actuarial department
  • Work to ensure continuous improvements in these processes to maximize the efficiency of the team

  • To assign workload and projects to each member of the staff
  • To follow up on HR processes; attendance, probationary period, performance management, etc.
  • To develop and coach our staff to reach their potential within CACI
  • To identify with your team individually their strengths and their areas for improvement
  • To identify the teams individual talents and abilities and harness those for their development and to optimise the business
  • To coach and encourage staff to enhance their professional actuarial qualifications
  • To fully apply the performance management process ensuring it is a 2 way process of open discussion

      • Minimum 10  years of professional experience
      • Experience with PROPHET and SAS an advantage
      • Experience working with Microsoft packages, particularly Excel, a necessity
       
    • Minimum experience level
    • 11 years and more
