Job description

Duties and responsibilities 

Pricing

  • Liaise with other departments (particularly the employees of the Business Department) to allow for consideration of all Pricing proposals as well as analysis of current portfolios
  • To attend internal committees for Italian partners such as local committees focused on business initiatives, review of experience etc
  • To lead the assessment of the conditions for technical feasibility of marketing solutions
  • To contribute to build/ modify the product offer (contracting, pricing, new guarantees)
  • To check work of junior actuary ensuring that all current and proposed evolutions are in accordance with our Underwriting Policy and any other appropriate internal guidelines and governance
  • To accurately apply profitability and stress scenarios tests and check work for accuracy
  • To collect and analyse market and product statistics, benchmarks, market issues
  • To document new pricing and underwriting schedules for sign-off by Actuarial Manager, maintaining table of pricing assumptions by product
  • To prepare and present Business Plans / Business Committee documents for consideration as part of the internal validation process
  • To ensure completion of peer reviews & compliance with processes (control cards etc.)

Analysis and Projects

  • To perform client portfolio analysis as required and preparation of client reports and presentations
  • Liaise with Reserving and Modelling teams to ensure joined-up thinking and a consistent/efficient view from the Actuarial Department
  • To perform experience analysis and assist with updating of pricing assumptions/assessing pricing adequacy
  • To contribute to or lead projects as assigned (including tenders)
  • To prepare and contribute to various internal Ml presentations and communications as required
  • To supervise/assist/mentor pricing analyst in carrying out analysis and project work

People First

  • To partner with HR in recruitment and integration of any new joiners - review of CVs, interviewing candidates, co-ordination and implementation of onboarding, participate in probationary process
  • To facilitate development of any direct reports - regular feedback, proactive performance management and advocating for knowledge sharing
  • To assign work to and manage workload of any direct reports - appropriate prioritisation of tasks with emphasis on optimising existing processes where possible and ensuring strong governance and accountability of results produced while balancing the importance of employee wellbeing
  • Perform the duties of senior actuary in diffusing knowledge/information within the Actuarial Department
  • Together with the Pricing Manager and Branch Manager to lead and build on the continued engagement and motivation of the team enhancing all aspects of our CACI culture
  • Drive IER Engagement Survey arid GTPW providing feedback on results and developing action plans encourage critical thinking and being open to ideas

To lead and support any direct reports in all other elements of their roles with a consistent emphasis on good governance
To represent the Italian Branch and advocate for their interests at various internal meetings
To follow up on HR processes (attendance, probationary period, performance management, etc ...)
To develop and coach our staff to reach their potential within CACI
To identify with your direct reports their strengths and their areas for improvement
To coach and encourage any direct reports to enhance their professional actuarial qualifications (when required)
Participate in recruitment process (review of CVs, interviewing candidates)
External relations
Develop good relationships with:Other teams in the Actuarial dept., Business Development dept., other departments and head office
Auditors, Internal audit, corporate clients & third party administrators
Attend partner committees
Attend other meetings as necessary and/or as delegate of pricing manager or branch manager (e.g. NAP, Business committee, OAC)

    • Minimum level of study
    • Bachelor Degree / BSc Degree or equivalent
    • Training / Specialization
      • Education: Qualified actuary

      • Experience: 5 to 7 years professional experience, in the insurance perimeter (creditor or life/ invalidity insurance)
    • Minimum experience level
    • 6-10 years

      • Experience in coaching junior actuaries ideally
      • Ability to meet deadlines
      • Able to manage, prioritize and organise their work and that of a junior actuary
      • Good communication skills (both written and oral)
      • High level of numeracy and computer literacy (Visual Basic, excel, SAS, etc.)
        
    • Languages
    • Fluency in Italian and working proficiency in English required, 3rd language an advantage
